Cromwell Bridge Road Tree Removal
Dear Constituents,
I have received many calls and emails about the trees being removed along Cromwell Bridge Road. I expressed my concern to BGE at a community meeting held at Loch Raven High School in November. BGE stated they are following federal guidelines, established after the Blackout of 2003. The trees follow the path of transmission lines that feed a region (31,000 residential customers, three hospitals, shopping malls and schools) not just a neighborhood. At the request of Councilman Gardina and I, BGE stopped work while we worked on a compromise. On Monday, December 3, Councilman Gardina and I met with BGE, various Maryland State and Baltimore County department heads, other elected officials and representatives of the community to discuss the project. BGE has agreed to stop cutting trees along Cromwell Bridge Road until an independent contractor assesses the project’s environmental impact. I will pass along more information as it becomes available to me.
