Senator Klausmeier Reminds National Guard Members of their Employment Rights

ANNAPOLIS -- In light of the recent and future planned deployments of National Guard members and reservists, the Maryland Office of the Attorney General has asked elected officials to alert their constituents that the office has compiled a fact sheet detailing the rights and protections available to service members.

"Attorney General Gansler’s office has created a valuable document that I hope every Maryland National Guard member has the opportunity to read," said Senator Klausmeier, "No one, but especially those serving our country, deserves to have their rights as an employee trampled on. With this fact sheet, guard members can find about the protections afforded service members and small business owners affected by the deployment."

The fact sheet also contains useful contact information and websites of state and federal agencies. National Guard members and reservists have protections in terms of employment, financial transactions, and voting. In addition, there are programs available to assist small business employers of and the businesses owned by active service members.
